Patna Airport, also known as Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport is an airport having mortified international flight, as designated by the Airport Authority of India. It is situated in the south-west corner of the city, some 6 km from Patna Junction, off the Bailey road. Most of domestic player have flights from Patna to the various metros. It is an important gateway for the Buddhist and Jain pilgrims center of Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, Pavapuri, Nalanda and others.
The airport is situated in a sprawling area of 260 Acres, having elevation of 170 ft. It has one runway of length 1,954 meter and width 45 meter. The airlines operating from the airport includes Air India, Go Air, IndiGo, JetLite, JetKonnect, Jet Airways which connects the city to major cities of the country.
The nearest airport includes Air force Base at Bihta, 20 km west of Patna and Bodh Gaya International airport at Bodh Gaya, 96 km South of Patna. Patna airport is one of the fast developing airport of India. It has good facilities available. Due to increasing traffic and increase in residential areas around it, there are plans to move the current airport to Bihta, which is fast evolving as a suburban area of Patna.
